Visit the different areas in Kwa-Zulu Natal

Kwa-zulu Natal has been divided up into a number of different areas:

  • Battlefields; where Brit, Boer and Bantu fought each other during the many wars that took place in this area.
  • Zululand; where Shaka Zulu had his kingdom.
  • South Coast; also called the Golf Coast.
  • North Coast; also known as the Dolphin Coast.
  • Elephant Coast; IsiMangaliso Wetland Park (World Heritage Site).
  • Midlands; the Midlands Meander with much cultural arts and crafts.
  • Drakensberg; Ukhuhlamba Royal Natal National Park (World Heritage Site).
  • Durban District; one of the main Harbors of South Africa and a fabulous Tourist and Holiday Destination.

There is much to see and do in these areas.  The beautiful white sandy beaches have the warm waters of the Indian Ocean to swim and surf in, to frolick in.  Build sand castles on the beach with the kids or make use of the facilities of the many beach resorts, hotels, pubs, restaurants, and playgrounds in the area. Shop till you drop in the shopping malls, from street vendors or at the markets. Watch shows in the theater, dance in the discos, or smooze in the nightclubs, gamble at the casinos, watch movies, or chat the night away at local bars or night-spots.

Play golf in the many golfing estates if that is your idea of fun. watch sports in the many stadiums, or make use of the many sporting facilities.  Adventure sports abound; quad biking, ballooning, parachuting, hang gliding, 4×4 tracks, hiking, swimming, watersports, canoeing, water skiing, fishing, angling, and so on.

There is much to photograph in terms of Wildlife, Bird-life, Scenery, traditional Zulu customs, dress, arts and crafts, wide open spaces, mountains, beaches, and diversity of cultures.

KZN is a melting pot of diverse peoples from all  over the world, Indian, Malay, Chinese, Japanese, German, British, Scottish, Irish, Dutch,  and other Scandinavian Countries, and of course our indigenous natives, which makes it very interesting, colorful and dynamic with its many tastes, smells, sights, and experiences.

Find places to stay in guesthouses, hotels, lodges, B&Bs, holiday resorts, caravan parks, camping sites, backpackers, or do your own thing in the self-catering flats, chalets, cottages and apartments on offer. There is accommodation to pick and choose; from cheap, budget digs to exclusive luxury venues with all the mod-cons. KZN is a vacation paradise, a tourist attraction, loves visitors from all over, and is geared to satisfy you, no matter your requirements.  Looking for gay-friendly, child-friendly, wheelchair-friendly, pet-, animal-friendly, there will certainly be something to satisfy your needs.
