For me the North Coast begins with uMhlanga, and the South Coast with aManzimtoti.  So the region in between is Durban District. It stretches inland to Mpumalanga. Camperdown and Hammarsdale for me is part of Pietermaritzburg and so part of the Midlands.  Marianhill, Pinetown, Hillcrest, Kloof, Verulam, Durban itself, Kwa Mashu, Clermont, Queensburgh, uMlazi all fall under the Durban District.
